
T. Pepper Clayton is detailed orientated Mechanical Engineer with a Building Science background and has years of ground-up new builds and renovations. He co-designed and completed his home, 3-story, 2,100 sq. ft. post & beam home with his wife Cynthia, utilizing a 160-year old barn that was moved 1,000 feet. In 2018, they complete an 1,100 sq. ft. earth-sheltered home, based on Cynthia's design, that is known far & wide as the Hobbit House. He was employed over 5 years at the University of Colorado's 11.5 million square-foot campus in Boulder as an engineer/energy efficiency technician, commissioning/recommissioning and inspector. A jack of all trades, with years of extensive carpentry and systems install experience, it's often said, "If Pepper can't fix it no one can." He has over a decade of experience in both Residential and Commercial Property Management. As an Airbnb SuperHost with his wife, their Hobbit House build has been featured far and wide and has been rated, 'Guests Favorite on Airbnb'.
Cynthia Clayton is a Generalist Designer with a master's degree in 'Critical & Creative Thinking'. Before completing the Design/Build projects with her husband, she she fixed and flipped houses in Atlanta for over 10 years, and has a strong creative eye and decades of experience in Interior Design, both spacial and furnishings & fixtures. She also renovated a photography studio in Atlanta during her time as a fine-art photographer. As a product designer, she had an exclusive license for her product in the 1996 Centennial Summer Olympics. It was dual licensed with Coke and was chosen among hundreds of products for the Torch Run. Her Design education includes 'Sustainable Home Design', 'Sustainable Communities of the Future' and 'Eco-Municipalities of the Future'.
